It seems that in times of tragedy, we intensify our reflections on "being" and the little things that matter most to us. Our hearts are with our sister chapter in Oklahoma City and we are thinking and praying for those there. Following the tragedies in Shawnee and Moore OK, I found myself being drawn constantly to think about the preciousness of what each moment means in our lives and how our actions matter most to others.

Why the Superstar is the New Standard
A standard admin knows how to screen your calls, but…
A superstar understands that while all incoming calls and emails are of importance, only a select few are of high priority. A great EA is assertive and decisive without taking over your business, is able to make decisions and delegate appropriately and is careful not to overstep boundaries. A great EA will learn what your preferences are first, then execute on tasks. Because the role is to weed out the chaff from the grain, a great EA must be tough-skinned, ready and able to handle difficult situations both internally and externally.

In light of recent IAAP discussion about the relevance of being an admin as a true career choice, I've dusted off and slightly revised a blog I wrote in 2012 for APW. I believe most of the content is still pertinent. I have never considered myself "just" an admin!

I just want to thank the Wisconsin Division Board for putting on a fabulous annual meeting this past weekend.
The sessions were very informative, and the networking activities were creative and super fun. They are a very creative group.
I always come away from these events feel energized and motivated.
